Agra India - The city of TAJ

"Taj Mahal" is the most famous monument in the world. King Shah Jahan built this "Mumtaj Mahal" for his most beautiful wife. It is one of the three world heritage sites of India and others are Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri. Taj Mahal is made of white marble; It is the most fascinating monument in India. Agra is one of the main tourist destinations of India; Tourism is a major contributor to Agra's economy. It has always been a center of education and learning. During the Mughal period, Agra became a center for Islamic education. The oldest collages in India, the "Agra collages", were founded in 1823 by the rulers of Scindia as a Sanskrit school.

Agra is also a good shopping destination in India. Stone crafts, brass items and leather goods are made by traditional craftsmen and are famous around the world for their excellent quality. The most popular is the stone replica of the "Taj Mahal". Another popular thing to buy in Agra is "petha", a very popular type of vegetable based dessert.

The main tourist attractions are the large "TAJ MAHAL", the "Agra Fort", "Fatehpur Sikri" and "Sikandra". Agra Fort was built in 1565 by King "Akbar". Also deserves "Fatehpur Sikri", the king "Akbar: has scoured his capital in this city, it is 36 km from Agra". Sikandra "is the tomb of King Akbar, 13 km from the capital.

Agra is a center of the leather industry in North India and the main export center of leather products in the world. Agra leather products such as shoes, clothing, bags and other leather accessories are of excellent quality. Besides Agra, "Kanpur" is also a center of the leather industry, 260 km from Agra and 464 km from "New Delhi". Agra's auto industry has also contributed to the country's economy. Agra is known for having a large number of garment manufacturing units. Agra is on National Highway 2; this is also a good reason for the expansion of the city.

Agra is well connected from all parts of India by the Indian rail and road network. There is also an airport, but there are very few flights. The nearest international airport is New Delhi, the capital of India is 204 km from Delhi. There are many trains from New Delhi to Agra, about one train every hour. Local transportation is a shared auto rickshaw; Tourists should always avoid this. The best way is to hire a taxi, either at the prepaid counter of the train station or there are many travel agencies there.

Agra is extremely hot in the summer; The temperature can reach 48 degrees Celsius. Agra should always be avoided during this time of year. The rainy season starts from July to September. This can be heavy rain and dust storms at this time of year; Don't forget to bring waterproof clothing and an umbrella. The best time to travel to Agra is October, November, January and February. December is extremely cold.

I am a person who likes to travel a lot. I often write about the Taj Mahal Agra and other beautiful places in India along with flights and hotel reservations.
